Honey I cant afford the kids
Sex has a lot to answer for babies usually which then with time and much financial investment grow up to be beautiful mutations of their parents. Yet as the family absorbs more money as it grows, the need for financial planning and protection becomes more important. So, where do you start and how do you move your finances forward?
First of all there are The Considerations:
* If surplus funds become available, could these be invested? If so, will you choose a medium or long term investment?
* Will you need an emergency fund?
* Will you need to save for short-term events such as Christmas, holidays and birthdays?
* Are you ready to save for a pension? Do you need to include your partner in a pension plan?
* How much financial planning do you want to do your children? For example, is private education an option or priority and do you want to start saving for university fees?
* How much borrowing will you need to do for buying a home and is it worth considering a mortgage payment protection plan?
* Is life insurance or life assurance worth considering as security for your partner and family?
* Do you need income protection insurance?
* Are all of your belongings and possessions adequately covered by household insurance?
Then there are The Resources:
* Have you taken advantage of all the family finance government initiatives involved? These include Child Benefit, Child Tax Credits, Child Trust Funds (CTFs) and the Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA) scheme. Directgov is an excellent resource for information on public services (http://www.direct.gov.uk/Homepage/fs/en )
* Do you have the best possible deal on your finances? This includes your credit card, any secured or unsecured loans, your mortgage, remortgage and insurance. If youre not sure, its not difficult to do some investigative homework. Moneyfacts ( http://www.moneyfacts.co.uk ) and Moneynet ( http://www.moneynet.co.uk ) are two popular sites for consumer research on financial products. If you live in the US, the website Lowermybills may prove helpful (http://www.lowermybills.com/ ).
And thats just when the kids are still young. Once theyre well established at school, you may wish to still evaluate the emergency fund, medical insurance and protecting your income against illness. The risks may change as the family develops so dont think that financial planning is a one-off event. Keep these issues in mind as your funds change.
As you get older you may wish to consider writing your will and inheritance planning, planning for long-term care, protecting your capital, continuing your income should anything happen to your partner and even indulging your grandchildren. There are a variety of publications from companies such as Which? that can help you tackle what may seem like impossibly complicated tasks.
If youre aware that one of the above issues needs to be tackled, dont neglect the gut feeling. Ask around for financial advice, but be aware that you need to be the decision maker, so gather as much information as you can and then make an informed decision. If the advice is conflicting, accept that financial success may always be based a little on luck and risk, though nothing excuses thorough research and planning. Read the papers, surf the web and ask around: the information is accessible!

Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt (NES)
Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt (NES)
The Classic Mega Hit "Super Mario Bros." and Arcade Shooter "Duck Hunt" 2 game cartridge that came stock with most Nintendo Entertainment Systems. A Must have for every NES owner, Collector, or seller trying to put together an full NES Set.
Customer Review: One of the greatest games of all time.
Lets face it, even with basic 2D graphics, and an old system, NES was able to come out with some of the most wonderful games ever. Zelda and Mario are not just games but but a part of our lives. What's wonderful about this game is that the whole family can play. Kids, adults, men, women boys and girls will enjoy playing.
I'm glad I still have my old NES. The only game I can think that is better than Mario brothers is Ultima Online.
Duck Hunt, which is on the same cartridge, was good for it's time but it doesn't hold up by todays standards. Plus, it won't work with many modern TVs. But that hardly matters since most people will be buying this for Super Mario Brothers anyway.

Customer Review: everybody loves seuss
My son sits up in bed just looking through the pages. It's sturdy and you definately get your monies worth. This also gives you a little insight into "Dr. Seuss'" real life. All of his books are great but If you have young kids I suggest "In a people house" It's easier for small hands but still has seuss' original style.

Baby Einstein - Neighborhood Animals
Baby Einstein - Neighborhood Animals
When Baby Einstein started its "video board books" in 1997, the company was virtually alone in the field of baby development. By its sixth video, the field has become crowded with similar-sounding titles. Now scientists might be able to analyze what a baby will get out of a video like Baby Dolittle compared to Baby Van Gogh, but is it worth getting more baby videos? Absolutely--babies love variety as much as their adult counterparts. On that level, Baby Dolittle scores. The theme of animals is a natural, and this show should cause squeals of delight from little ones 1 to 4 years old. Using a stimulating mix of brightly colored toys, whimsical puppets (including your host, Pavlov the Dog), and lots of pictures, Baby Dolittle takes the viewer on a 30-minute tour of commonly found animals. Help your little pal spot a pig on the farm or a dog in the house. Baby Dolittle uses animals' sounds, kids' drawings, and photography for each animal in four habitats. The natural settings and original, bright recordings of Beethoven, Rimsky-Korsakov, Vivaldi, and others should make this a favorite every time you want to visit Old MacDonald's Farm. Followed by a companion production, Baby Dolittle World Animals. --Doug Thomas
Customer Review: BORING!!!
I thought that my 6 month old daughter would like this movie because she is already an avid tv watcher but this didn't hold her attention much at all. Everytime it switched sceens, the screen goes black for a second. The music was very lame too and did not attract my daughters attention at all. There was not much speaking or much music (especially in the beginning). It did show lots of differnt animals in a variety of their natural outdoor settings but for a baby the graphics wasn't colorful enough to keep her attention. I would think an older children, maybe 3 or so, would be more interested in this type of video.
Guess How Much I Love You
Guess How Much I Love You
All children want reassurance that their parents' love runs wide and deep. In Guess How Much I Love You, a young rabbit named Little Nutbrown Hare thinks he's found a way to measure the boundaries of love. In a heartwarming twist on the "I-can-do-anything-you-can-do-better" theme, Little Nutbrown Hare goes through a series of declarations regarding the breadth of his love for Big Nutbrown Hare. But even when his feelings stretch as long as his arms, or as high as his hops, Little Nutbrown Hare is fondly one-upped by the elder rabbit's more expansive love.
Anita Jeram's illustrations are bound to elicit an "aw" from even the sternest of readers; these loving rabbits are expressive, endearing, and never cloying. In turn, Sam McBratney tells a simple bedtime story of sweet familial love with humor, insight, and a delightful surprise at the end. Children and parents will love snuggling up for this one--a treat to be read again and again, just before the lights are turned out. (Click to see a sample spread. Text © 1994 by Sam McBratney.
